last month i agreed with on this issue.
he asked why the change, i told him that i have been doing some soul searching.
i agree with ones here who mentioned children learn in JW to be deceptive about their true selves. While i saw many red flags which should have knocked some sense into me over the years, none of them stand out in my memory as strongly as learning how pervasive, common and accepted-as-normal this is:

Ray did NOT run any show. C of C has been a beautiful gift to my life. I can never express the amount of appreciation i have for that book and to Ray for writing it. That man loved people and used his talent to help them, in every stage of his life.
i had an interesting conversation with bobby (*some names have been changed) last weekend.
he's also a successful fader going back several years before me.
but i found we had something in common that i hadn't realized.. bobby had never been particularly happy growing up.
YES we are supposed to tend to our own faults and accept other people as they are. Not try to control them. SELF-control is the best government. When we accept others they are free to become who they really are.
Also the fact is, people own their lives, nobody else does. People have a right to do as they please with their own lives! without having to worry endlessly about other people's opinions, or whether they will lose everyone's approval.
Which makes people hide their true selves. People are very lovable and precious, we need to allow them AND ourselves to be who we really are!
you know i'm just tired about all the bull shit that goes on.
i'm sick of trying to please others.
i loath pissing people off on a saturday morning.

I am right there with you, everything you said. You wrote you are doing things people want you to do, to keep them happy. My first thought at reading that is, You can't make other people happy. If you were ABLE to do everything they want you to do, they wouldn't like it - they would just pile more stuff onto the load so you can't ever feel like you made it to any goal. They always say, We commend you brothers on this or that, BUT...
Nothing ever enough, even for a little while. Gotta get off that hamster wheel!

how can you tell if your business successes are coming from satan or god?
because if your work gets real busy and you miss some meetings and/or fs, is that how you tell that it's from satan?
but then if you contribute a big amount every week, is it from jehovah?
lol Scully, i think you hit the nail on the head, and Sammy your summation does bring back to mind the chaos and confusion our lives were in! The stress is so huge from trying to Do It All. Several of our friends died in their 40s of illnesses which imo were caused by stress. And the stress of keeping bad family problems hidden equals suffering x infinity.

MIND CONTROL is a great subject to research. Steve Hassan said when the [insert organization name here] representatives first enter your home, that's when the mind control begins. You subsequently think you are joining the organization voluntarily. There is no conscious realization that the mechanics of how your brain actually worked have been altered.
IF something jars the complacency in your robot-like mindset, it takes the rest of your life to recover and go back to thinking for yourself. That's IF you even realize you need to recover.
